One of the beautiful things about Hometown Sheds is that we routinely make custom buildings. That’s why we were approached by the owner of Garden Valley Market, a fruit stand business in Graham, North Carolina. He wanted a building that would showcase his products by day, and store them all securely by night.
A Bunch of Sketches. He sent us a sketch of his ideas, and we sent it to our factory for artist renderings . These were submitted to the city of Graham for approval. They initially rejected it because they wanted the building to be all wood construction with no steel doors or steel roof systems. The plans went back and forth from the city to the factory, until we had the building that satisfied everyone concerned.
Recipe for Success. As we modified the plans, one of the most important thing that we had to do was to make it strong enough to transport. We added extra shoring and bracing so that the integrity of the structure would stand with the moves that it would undergo. We also customized the interior, reinforcing the framing and sheathing to support the open concept. We used architectural shingles per the city code. The customer actually added his own awnings, which saved on the final cost. Finally, we finished the building with a Cedar urethane stain.
Proof’s in the Pudding! The finished product beautifully showcases the fruit, vegetables, and plants. Convenient for customers, practical for the employees, this fruit stand is truly an example of how well we can tailor build our structures to meet your needs.
