Finally, old man winter is gone and the temperatures are warm enough to enjoy the outdoor area of your home. While you’re planting flowers, tilling the garden and knocking down the cobwebs from winter, don’t forget to clean your storage building, too.

While it may be tempting to pull out the pressure washer while you clean the sidewalks and just wash off your building, this is actually not the best idea. The heavy force of a pressure washer can not only strip the paint from the sides of your building, but also possibly leak in through the roof due to its heavy upward force.

So, you ask, if you can’t use your pressure washer what can you use? A simple solution of 10% household bleach and dish washing detergent should do the trick. And, any hard to clean spots? A little elbow great a scrub brush are recommended to safely remove dirt, mold and mildew.

A product called Awesome also works great for cleaning off tree sap. One final thing to know is to try to avoid spraying the corners or around the soffit area of the roof. This will help prevent water and mold damage from reaching the inside.

So, there’s no need to wait to enjoy your outdoor grilling and get togethers this season. With these simple tips the great outdoors, and your building, are ready for you and your guests to entertain all summer long.
